Zoo Animals

20130411_092749-1

So this layout was also created using Make the Cut and Treasurebox Designs svg files. I was going to entitle it Zoo Much Fun…but then decided I should call it Wild Thing, I Think I Love You…it is a song we sang a lot for my son…he has always been such a character! I hope you like it! Enjoy!

Hanging with my Peeps

Here is a very cute Easter layout using Treasurebox Designs adorable file HANGING WITH MY PEEPS! I saw the layout done by I believe someone from the Design Team and thought it was so cute that I had to do this layout. Unfortunately, my HP large format printer is not working, my printhead isn’t working correctly so I had to use my Kodak printer so I was unable to print my  background paper. So I had to modify my layout. So I did an 8x10 printed paper, and then took a cardstock and embossed it and fitted it to the pattern paper so that it measured a 10 x 10. I think it worked out really nice. I then couldn’t find my other pattern paper for the mats, but I had this cute pink paper, but it didn’t really go with my layout, so using Make the Cut, I brought the texture in for my mat and adjusted the hue, contrast, brightness etc to get the golden yellow color…I loved it. So here is my layout I hope you like it! Enjoy!

All the pieces in the layout, the chicks, the ears, egg, basket, peeps, carrot, title, were done using the print and cut technique in Make the Cut.

Catching Up

Oh my goodness, I couldn’t believe how long it has been since my last post. Life has really changed for us and our family. What started out being just a respite care for two little boys, has gone for almost a year now. We truly love these little guys and they have fit in nicely with our family…and so with that said, I also have to say, I’m not as young as I used to be, so getting time to sit and post layouts and tutorials etc, well, it has taken a back seat…but now that the boys are doing better and adjusting, I’m hoping to get caught up and get back doing what I love to do and that is scrapping and card making and sharing! So with that said here are some of the past layouts that I have done…hope you Enjoy.

Most of the layouts that I post have been created by Treasureboxdesigns, and my favorite software Make the Cut and my new favorite cutter the Zing.

My husand thinks my office looks like it could be a store, and he’s probably right…I have all the gizmos and gadgets and tons of paper…but I love to do Print and Cut, and so with the newest updates to Make the Cut, I do most of my layouts now by printing out all the pieces either using a color or texture palette.

On this Love to Dance Layout, I used rolled flowers that I created, and then I went online and looked at some online swirls cliparts and then I pixel traced them in Make the Cut, and then I used them for the swirls that you see in the layout. The title and the gray mats, and the ballerinas were all done with Print and Cut! I then added some red Tule to the ballerina to just give it a little more pop…sorry, I wasn’t able to get a good picture…the layout came out really cute.

Again, here is a camping layout…I believe I used the Scout pieces and then Happy Campers from Treasureboxdesigns, also using Print and Cut feature in Make the Cut.

IMG_2024[1]

Here is Slide into Winter layout…everything but the blue cardstock and white cardstock were done with Print and Cut…I love this layout and how I was able to adjust the colors of my snowflake paper (which is a digital online paper)  in the Make the Cut software to the shade of blue that I liked.

IMG_2075[1]IMG_2076[1]

I saw this layout online and thought…hmmm I can make that…so I played with some basic shapes and the node editing tool and created my arms and beard…I also used my pen tool and did the mats…they are a little off…but I still liked it. I now know how to do the dash lines with the pen tool and then cut it with my Zing, so it will be perfect every time…Below is a short video tutorial on how I do it now.

IMG_2079[1]IMG_2080[1]

I haven’t added my title to this layout, but I think it came out so stinkin cute…I love the little Elf on the Shelf from SVGcuts, I did him with print and cut so I wouldn’t have to cut out all those tiny pieces for his face, I then had to print two pieces for his outfit, one mirror imaged because of the folds, otherwise white would’ve shown when folding up his legs and his hat down. I wanna give a shout out to Renae, who did this layout with me, and she had added the snow in the window frame and I loved her layout that I had to include it in mine.

IMG_2077[1]IMG_2078[1]

Again, this is a Back to School layout that we did last fall…I’m not one into doing bears, but these lil guys and girls were so cute. Everything but the back ground paper was done as Print and Cut using the Make the Cut software and my Zing…can you tell, I love to do it this way…saves so much time, and I don’t have to hunt for paper and waste paper or try to store pieces that are leftover.

IMG_2081[1]IMG_2082[1]

Our area school hosts Spring Fling every year since I can remember, and so I saw this cut file from Treasureboxdesigns and just knew that I had to make this layout.

IMG_2083[1]IMG_2084[1]

So that’s it for now…

Make the Cut, Dash Lines, Pen Tool & Zing

I am using a new software Camtasia Studio, not familiar with editing so please excuse the extra noises and blunders that I made. Hope this helps all of you try the pen tool.

Here are some vinyl boards I’ve done

These boards are actually done on both sides…something different so if you get bored with one side of the board, Laughing out loud you can switch it to the other side for a while. Enjoy

Recent and past layouts

This week our kids class did a layout using the files from TreasureboxDesigns, her Flying High cut file…we did it using the PNC feature in Make the Cut and it was cut using my favorite machine, the Zing using the laser to help do the really nice cuts. I like doing the cut files this way now because it still gives you some dimensional to the piece and yet it is quicker to put together especially for kids and for some of my friends who either have poor vision or they have some arthritis…so this technique makes it really nice for them. The way I do it is I take the pieces and lay the on my virtual mat to form the body with the clothing, and having all the pieces on their own layer lie so…

image

If you notice, there are these little black marks at the top and bottom corners, these are registration marks. The laser on the Zing reads these marks and then cuts the pieces out. So once I print them…I then have to prepare it to be cut…this is how I do it…there may be easier ways, but I have found this to work for me. I select all the pieces, copy it, and then open a new page and paste the pieces on to the new page and I call this page my cut page…then with all the pieces still selected, I weld them…this way they are one shape…here is how I do it….

image

You will notice my registration marks are still in the same place. So hopefully you will give this a try, if you need any help you can email me at dimahi@hotmail.com and I will be more than willing to help you. Here is the completed layout…Oh, I also made my own mats using Make the Cut and using the kites from TreasureboxDesigns and just manipulating them on a colored background. I will be trying to do more of that in the days ahead…it came out pretty good for my first try. Enjoy!

Sorry for the poor quality, I’ve been using my Ipad or cellphone to capture pictures for our local scrapbooking store SCRAPS…if you ever need any supplies…she does ship and her prices are very good.

This past weekend our local scrapbooking store SCRAPS hosted another Scrapmania weekend where ladies can attend for a very small fee and scrap from Friday night to Saturday night. This was her first hosting of the weekend as she recently bought the store from Bev and Lisa who have put on this event for the past several years. So Jamie, she wanted to make it a special welcome to everyone and thank them for their past and present support of the store and SCRAPMANIAS by hosting a barbecue so with that idea in mind, she asked me if I would consider doing a layout for the girls to attend on Friday evening…so of course I looked through my files and again found another cute file from my favorite TreasureboxDesigns and I did another PNC, (because I can and I love it!) So here is our  layout that we made…hope you like it Smile Enjoy!

image

On this layout I did my own mats again using Make the Cut, the girls body was all one piece and we added the chefs hat, apron, top of the shoes, hands and utensils…and a nose…chalked and penned it. Hamburg is also one piece.

Here is a quick shot of our easter layout using again TreasureboxDesigns  cut files…don’t you agree…they are so darn cute. This was not a true PNC…however I did print out the pieces, I chose the color I wanted, and then printed out on white cardstock, using my Zing and registration marks in Make the Cut, I was able to cut out my pieces. This may help in my not buying so much cardstock an paper…now I’m hooked on Digital paper and printing them out. I love Lettering Delights and Digi Scrapkits

Life just got too busy :)

I am so far behind on my blog, and I want to apologize to my followers as well as my friends who have attended my classes and like to check in and see what we’ve been up to.

As you can see, I haven’t made any posts since November! Yikes! Hoping to get some more time to be able to keep it up better and hopefully learning a few techniques to make it more informative to those who read it…example…if you like the layout, you will have the sizes you need to repeat the design.

I have been doing a lot of learning of new ideas and techniques. I got a brand new machine and I love it, it is called the ZING. I am especially loving the Print and cut feature using the built in laser and registration marks using the software Make the Cut. Both the software and the Zing compliment each other. The ZING cuts better than my old Cricut and a few other cutters I have owned. So I have been playing with it since November and I have to say, this machine is top notch. The cuts are as intricate as you need and can cut a wide variety of materials…if you aren’t sure if it will cut a material you have, they are more than willing to do test cuts for you.

Another thing that has happened and kept us very busy, is we have become Foster Parents to two young boys…this has been wonderful for me at times, and challenging at other times. I have fallen in love with them and hoping to give them all the love and attention they need till they can get back home with their parents.

So I will now try to update the last few months…thanks for checking out our blog and I hope you have a great day! Enjoy!

Catching up!

So I have been very busy getting ready for the Craft Show that I had to take 2 weeks off from classes, and unfortunately, I forgot to update my blog as well. So here I am once again trying to play catch up!

First I want to share with you some exciting things going on…I got a new cutter and I’m loving it!!! It is called a Zing, and it is like they say AmaZing! It cuts so much faster than the Cricut, and it uses the software Make the Cut so cutting titles are no longer dragging slow. The cuts are so clean and crisp, I used to have to poke out and then file pieces cos the Cricut never, ever cut clean even with a new blade. So I used the Zing for this weeks class, did a Giving Thanks layout and it is adorable…I don’t think I’ve ever made my paper doll pieces this large before, unless it was a snowman or something like that…so these came out really cute. I used again Treasuerbox Designs svg cutting files.

IMG_8301

I also purchased the Cricut cake machine and hoping I can post a couple of projects in the next few days. My sister and my niece live in Seattle, and so this is something we can do via Skype…it is so much fun being able to do this with them, it’s another way for us to almost be together. I want my little niece to know and love her Aunt, and because we live at opposite ends of the US, this is one way she can get to know me, by doing some little crafts via Skype…we laugh and have a great time. So hopefully next week we can show our projects.

Here is a cute little lantern that I made to show some other things you can do with your cutting machines besides scrapbooking and cardmaking…I love this little lantern, I bought some little battery operated tealights at Walmart and they flicker making it look like I have a real candle inside, I fooled my husband, he was quite concerned that I had a candle inside of a paper lantern…hahhaha.

IMG_8303IMG_8304IMG_8306IMG_8305

Here’s another project and craft that I made for the show…I sold all of them on my first day so I had to make more and sold almost all of them at the Craft Show. These make great gifts for Teachers, co-workers or that family member that has everything. I thought these came out really cute.

Here are some lamps that I made for my friends stores…all these projects were made using Make the Cut and either my new Zing or the Cricut. You can find these cute little light boxes at Re*Imagined in downtown Houlton.

IMG_8283IMG_8281

Here are some windows that I made with Vinyl, I love how they came out…taking orders if anyone is interested, I have a few windows left that I could make any of these designs or a design of your choice.

Here is my youngest student Gabby, she did such a good job! I believe she is only 5 or 6, she takes turns with her brother, they come every other week and we are enjoying having these kids come and learn how to take care of and preserve their pictures.

Ok, I think I’m all caught up…I have to finish my hunting page as I made this same layout a couple of years ago, but now my husband and my son hunt, and they both got a moose this year so I need to get their pictures on the page and then I will post them. Thanks for looking at our blog, hope you enjoyed seeing what we do here.

Halloween Layouts

It’s that time of year again when the Creepy, Ghouly, hilarious, kooky, cute characters come out. So we had to do more that one layout so we can scrap all our pictures. So enjoy the layout…files are from Treasurebox Designs and I used Make the Cut to cut all my files.

Spookville Layout

Here is this weeks layout for Halloween! This was my sons favorite holiday…He would say what other holiday can you get something from perfect strangers…go to there house, walk up and knock on their door and say a silly saying, and they give you handfuls of candy! He so loved it! He didn’t even care if he had a costume…he just thought it was cool to get free candy!

Tonights file comes from one of my favorite sites…Treasurebox Designs she has some really neat cut files. This one is Spookville.

This layout was so easy that I had a seven year old do one with his mommy tonight, it was there first time so I am going to post his layout. Enjoy!

IMG_8175

This is Isaiah and his mom Rachel and this was their first time scrapbooking…So glad you could come tonight and you did a fantastic job!

IMG_8170

All files were cut using my favorite program Make the Cut, so love this program. I am currently using it with my Cricut, but I can’t wait to get my new cutter and get better cuts and the ability to cut some other things. See you next week!

ARE WE THERE YET?

Here is another Treasurebox design…how many of us as parents has heard this from our children as we take a trip whether it’s a short trip or a vacation where we travel all day? I do believe that all four of my children have asked the question at least a few times along the way! I haven’t put my pictures on yet, but I plan to post it when I get them on..this is a trip that my daughters took using my car and they would pretend that they were speeding(yeah right, we know they were) or they would take pictures to pretend they were texting, they were just trying to tease me. (They succeeded)! So I will post the pics later..but here is the layout…enjoy!
