Another Beach/Pool page with adorable penguins

This weeks class ended up being on a Tuesday evening because my beautiful baby girl had her 20th birthday on Monday and wanted to spend the day with me without my having to leave to teach a class, so I thought that was pretty sweet of her. But guess what? As the day went on, she received an invite from a friend she hadn’t seen for a while to go to dinner, so I told her to go and have fun. So class took place on Tuesday evening and it was a reunion of sorts. Our friend from Florida is up for the summer and her and her daughter who lives here both came, and another dear friend who hasn’t been for a while also came, and of course one of my regulars came and so we had a wonderful evening and everyone’s pages came out beautiful.

I hope you enjoy seeing our pages, and how when made with different paper and rearranging the layout, each taking on their own personalities. Enjoy :)

Jamie had some beautiful Close to my Heart paper that she used. I love this paper.

These next few layouts are Nina’s, Annette’s and Rubies, here we used photo copied cardstock for our mats. This paper came out of a pack and we didn’t have enough for everyone so we photo copied it!

Usually we chalk or ink all our pieces but this week we only did a little on our tree and used micro black pens and a white gel to add some detail to some of our pieces…they came out so cute, and the added little extra was some hemp for the bow on the bathing trunks, it just added that little extra.

Our Palm trees were missing the coconuts…and so with a pair of scissors, not the Cricut, the girls cut these cute coconuts and added it to the layout…how cool is that?

These cuts were made using Myscrapchick penguins…I own everyone of their files! Literally! I used the Make the Cut software to do all of our cuts. I love this program. Learning new things everyday on what it can do.

Circus/Zoo Layout

So I got very carried away this week with my Cricut…I love these little animals that I got from Lisa (I own just about all of her designs)…they are so CUTE! So I cut 4 little jungle animals and now I’ve changed my mind and will probably be adding about 3 more animals to my page…and then I cut a circus clown with his canon, and a circus tent…we will be adding more to this because we have decided to make it a  4 page layout due to the colors are brighter for the clown and tent and other featured paper piecings. We were going to add some colorful Shrinky Dinks to the layouts giving it more of a 3D appearance, but I no longer can find the kind that you can put in your printer and then shrink them! So, as I was looking at this layout that I’m working on for the clown and tent page, I realized that there needs to be elephants!!! You can’t go to a circus without seeing the Elephants! So here is the picture of the first two pages that I’ve started…it is not complete yet, but we will finish it next week at class…I hope you like it so far, I love the colors that I chose and am very pleased with how it turned out.

Mat size: CS (2) 6 1/4 x 4 1/4

                  (5)  3 1/4 x 3 1/4

               PP (2) 6 x4 and (5) 3 x 3

Pattern Paper used for the strip was Ashville Strip1, this has 8 strip pieces on the 12x12 that can be used, plus it is double sided, the orange paper is also by Ashville, and is called Orange Street, I also used Stampin Up cardstock Bashful blue and Really Rust, and Caramel. What I did to make this page, was I was trying to show the ladies how you can still use your left over pieces and actually make a cute page…I took a 12x12 and set it down behind so I had my size, and then put my strip on the top of the bashful blue, it was about 5 inches, I then added about 3 inches of really rust at the bottom, and then added a 3 inch piece of caramel that I tore and then I used dk brown colorbox chalk. Chalk I used on the animals were dk brown, amber clay, and burnt sienna. Enjoy!

Down on the Farm

This is our class we did on June 30th...with 10 students! We had two young ladies attend for the first time and they did a very good job, I was really impressed with their talent, they truly were artistic. We also had a return visitor and so we were glad to have these ladies in our class. I hope you like their layouts and their paper piecing, chalking and color choices.
Our mat size we did some 4x4 mats using bandana paper, some made a journaling mat as well as some 4x6 mats...everyone does their own layout so they can vary...and we like them all.

If you own a Cricut, here is an excellent software that allows you to cut
any True Type font with your machine, as well as many cliparts can now be
traced within the program turning them into an svg format, this feature alone
makes getting SCAL2 worth it as you will never need to purchase any carts.
There are thousands of files out there for you to download for free or for a
small fee that you can cut with your Cricut. I must say I use this software for
almost every layout I have done when using my Cricut. I actually use it more
than cartridges....don't tell Provo :)
