Halloween Ghost treat card and Hanging Out With Layout….

I saw this card on Kelly’s blog and thought it was the cutest little card and I made mine a tad bit different. It was a lot of fun…we did it Saturday morning as a Make and Take at SCRAPS in Houlton…Thank you Kelly for sharing your card with all of us here in Maine.

So here’s our version of Kelly’s card…I only had 2 cardmakers on Saturday, and one was I believe the youngest student we have had so far…He is only 6 years old and he made an adorable card. He definitely has talent, be sure to check out the layout he did on Monday night. Yup, he came back to our class on Monday evening and he did a fantastic job! It’s nice to see the creativity of these young kids. So enjoy our cards and our layouts.

Treat cup is from Stampin Up, stamp is from the G series and instead of heat embossing we just used the versa mark, to create some depth on our card. The ghost was cut from Make the Cut, the RiP was cut from Wild Cards cartridge.

This first layout was the color that I had originally planned to do, but once I had it on my table, I wasn’t sure if I liked it, so I kyboshed it and went with my second choice, which I will be posting below. When I had this paper on the table, a couple of the girls commented on the colors and so I decided to throw it together after all…this layout will be down to SCRAPS for sale for $12.00, all you have to do is add your own pictures and any journaling.

100_6470 100_6471  Isn’t this the cutest little monkey ever? Oops I just noticed I forgot to put the bows on this page, guess I best go do that right now :)

So here’s the page I did for the class, I think I like them both, what’s your opinion. We love to read your comments so please be sure to leave them. Thanks, Enjoy the rest of the girls/and young men’s layouts.

FALL Layout

October 4th Class….Yay, it’s on :) Scrapbooking night at SCRAPS in Houlton. We have taken the summer off and a few of us met throughout the summer doing some layouts and cards and I think we had a really nice time getting together and sharing ideas. Since our break, I think there has been 2 Scrapmania’s and one retreat at Toni’s camp…so much fun getting together and scrapping, sharing some details of our lives, laughing, eating, crying, scrapping, eating ( oh did I say that already, it seems at everyone of these events, we have the best food ever) If you have never gone to a Scrapmania or a Retreat…you should…it is the most relaxing time ever and with great company with the same goals of getting some nice scrapbooking pages made.

Be watching for SCRAPS big announcement…it is so exciting, if you haven’t heard already….I think you will see some new and exciting things happening at our little store. So be watching.

Onto this week’s class…I want to thank Dina L…for her wonderful cut files. We have been working together to help turn them also into MTC files, making it easier for you to have all your pieces ready to cut, add paper, hit cut…how easy peasy is that?

Recipe for Fall layout:

4 Choc Chip Cardstock cut at 6 1/4 x 4 1/4

2 Green Cardstock (your choice) 6 x4

2 PP (your choice) 6 x 4

2 Choc Chip Cardstock 4 1/4 x 4 1/4

2 Cream or Tan or Lt brown 4 x 4

2 Cream or Tan or Lt Brown 3 x 11 3/4

2       “                        “ 4 1/2 x 11 3/4

2 PP ( your choice)   4 x 11 3/4

If you like the effects, I chalk all my pieces to add a little extra dimension to it. I leave about about a 1/4 inch border all the way around my layout, and in between the strips that I have on this layout. I used the Cuttlebug on my top borders, and my 4 x4  mats.

Charlie Chaplin Wall Decor cut with my Cricut

I have been waiting for quite sometime to take this wall cut down to my brothers’ studio down in Portland. He just built a brand new recording studio where he produces and records audio books. I wanted to create something very special for him and for his studio so I searched and searched to find a character that would fit both his decor and a little of his perosnality…so here it is my cut of Charlie Chaplin…Love you Bill, also known as  “Bob the Builder”, my brother for several years was the voice of the infamous Bob the Builder and several other characters, such as the pizza man, and one of the machines I think.        Enjoy!

Here it is on the wall with my brother! (always the actor)

Boy N Boot

So with my favorite software, MTC, I tried my hand at making a cut file from a photograph…after 8 hours of working on it…here is my first attempt (mind you, I couldn’t find my glasses so my faces are a tad, lets say not so great) :(

100_6329

And this is my second attempt…still need a little more work to get it to where I will like it. Feel free to leave your comments.

100_6329

I think if I can fix my head, I will be very happy with the rest of it, thanks for looking!

Another Monday night making cards

Here’s some cards that one of my younger girls made and allowed me to take pictures of her cards to share with all of you. She did a very good job…be sure to comment below and let her know how good she did. Enjoy!

Laugh Scrapbook Layout

So I found some pictures and when I looked at them, they made me just start laughing, so I thought, I needed to scrap them and that just had to be my title…I hope you enjoy!

On this layout, I wanted to do a class with no paper piecings, a title that was fun and easy to do page for even a beginner and yet still be very eye catching. We used a crimper on the title giving it the corrugated appearance, the title was cut using MTC software or if you have SCAL it can be done with that also, and we placed journaling blocks above our photos, and then the girls were to add their own embellishments to the page.  Let me know what you think…we love to read your comments.

100_6232 100_6233 Hoping to post my layout and maybe a couple of the other girls layouts on here soon. I hope you like this one that Anne N. made…love her embellishments!

Fishing Layout

This weeks class was supposed to be a Fishing Layout, but for whatever reason, I had no one attend class that night! My guess, it was 89 degrees and extremely humid and I think that everyone was just trying to remain cool and that it probably would be too hot in the back of the store to do scrapbooking, but several kits were sold and I still have a few more left if anyone else is interested. I truly love my layout…it is supposed to have a boy or a girl fishing on it, but since I have both girls and boys and they all love to go fishing, I decided to use both of the diecuts on my layout. I love Lisa’s cuts, they are so adorable and easy to put together. This has got to be one of my favorite layouts that I have done in the past few weeks, I hope you will like it also.

This is a close-up of the cutout.

100_5897

If you look closely, I used some metalic ink on my title “The Big Catch” I also used my Cuttlebug to emboss the title, I think it just added that little extra to this page.

I love these pictures that I put on here, it is of my son Chris and his brother Sam, they loved to go fishing with their dad. It was nice doing this layout this week for me as Chris’s birthday was 2 weeks ago and he would’ve been 23 years old. So it’s nice to be able to get this picture into the album to be able to share it with it our family. Chris was quite the little “ham” if you can’t tell by looking at these pictures…I am going to make another layout of fishing as I still have a few more pictures I can put on it.

Love you and Miss you Chris.

The day I was working on this layout, our son Sam went fishing and he caught an 18 inch rainbow trout and so as I was looking through the pictures, I found one of their dad, probably 10 or 15 years ago when he caught an 18 inch trout also. Gotta love my fishermen!

100_5896

On this page, I decided to do my journaling on the side and the pictures I chose were ones of my daughters so I could use the little girl diecut on here…she actually was a cutout for roasting marshmallows, but thanks to Make the Cut, I was able to alter her and turn her into a fishing girl. :) Anyhow, in this layout are two Korean students that our oldest daughter, Erica, had in school in China and they came to the USA for the summer with her…in the 6 weeks they were here, we introduced them to many things and one was fishing. They were naturals. Also in these photos is our baby girl “Princess” Hannah…she did really good casting, unfortunately, no fish were injured on this day :)  We had such a good time, the kids fishing and me with my camera! The picture above is a day of fishing with Sam and Dad. I love remembering these fun times and now I have it in my album and journaling done. Enjoy!

Sister Layout

So as we are trying to decide weekly what layouts to do, the ladies decided we should do a Sister/s or Sister-in-Law layout. I also used on this layout my favorite stamps of all time…Magnolia stamps…I love them, so I showed the girls how to use copic markers, watercolor pencils to color our little darling.

I decided to use pictures of my two daughters who are so close and believe me, they have a lot of pictures of each other…I dare say over 500 or more, some really nice, posed photos and many, many silly photos…that make me laugh…I so love my girls…I hope you enjoy or layouts.

Our mat size were (2) 6 1/4 x 4 1/4 and (5) 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 adding faux stitching along the border. Also one 2 x 5 inch, For the layout we used 12 x 12 background and top strip is 1 1/2 x 12, middle is 2 x 7, and then 7 x 12 and bottom is 3 1/2 and we used a tear ruler for the edging, this is page one…on page 2 you just choose which colors you want to start with, making sure that it pulls your focus from page one to page two…so you start with at the top, 2 x 5, 2x7, then your bottom strip is the same as the first page, and on some of the layouts, they did it a little different in the middle. Our flowers were cut with Scal2 and then chalked and then we used a stylis and curled the ends of the flowers and added buttons in the center…We were going to emboss the letters for SISTERS, but someone had borrowed the Sizzix from the store and I forgot to bring my Cuttlebug…but they still came out really nice…what do you think? Be sure to leave your comments and we love to hear them. Enjoy!

Grandmother/Nana Layout

I’m a little behind on my layouts, and I’m so sorry. My weeks are pretty busy with the sweet little ones that I take care of and I try and devote my time to them and then at night, I’m exhausted! I guess I’m not as young as I used to be, and get wore out pretty easily these days. But I’m only 2 weeks behind and I’m going to try and do the updates all this evening. However, I don’t have everyone’s layouts as some of you wanted to email it to me after you finished or after you adhered your photos…don’t forget, if you want them on the blog to email them and I can still add them.

So tonight we did something a little different. I’m not used to doing this type of a layout with flowers and no paper piecings, but I think it came out really nice.  Jane brought black and white photos and it looks very heritage, in my opinion…I love it! so here’s some of the layouts and I will add the rest as soon as they are sent to me. Enjoy!

100_5578 100_5579 100_5576

On this layout we also used the new Stampin Up border punch, glitter paper for the butterfly, ribbon, and of course SCAL2 was used to make all the cuts.

100_5577

And of course, none of these layouts look anything like mine, which I will post as soon as I finish putting my photos on, as I just got them in the mail of my mom, my kids, Nana…love you MOM!

Skier, skater and sledding page

So I tried something different tonight…I brought down 3 layouts so the girls could see them and pick which one they wanted to do…well they liked them all and so I guess they plan on making their own pages. So here’s the layouts the girls and I did…oh yeah…I fell so my skiing page got dirty so I have to do a remake on that one.

Enjoy!

100_5549 Sorry the pictures didn’t turn out so good on my layouts, I wasn’t feeling well so I took them still in the album with no flash so you could get a look at them…I haven’t added my glitter or journaling..and no snowflakes yet.100_5551

100_5533 Brenda made two layouts..this is one, sorry I guess my picture came out too bright but you can see what a nice job she did on her page

100_5534

100_5535100_5536 I love the colors of Mel’s layout…and again, as usual, my friends create their own pages, but that’s the beauty of scrapbooking isn’t it! Be sure to leave a comment…we love hearing what everyone thinks of our layouts.

100_5537

100_5538 I’m so impressed with our new girl, Jane….she is doing so good at this…and look she even drew her face on her skier! You go girl! hehehheeh

100_5542 This is my little friend Heather, she is quite the little scrapbooker and she loves to help…she took the picture below…been teaching her how to use my camera. She made these pages with a little help from her mom.

So just in case you didn’t know we have classes every Monday evening, held at SCRAPS, downtown Houlton. Classes are at 6:30, and if you come a little early, you can shop before class, most of the girls purchase their paper for their layout just prior to class after they see my layout. If you can’t make it to class…I am now offering online classes on Wednesday evenings…you just need to have Yahoo messenger and add me dimahi59. Classes are $5 and if you need files, those are an additional $2.00. I try to design using all 3 software's, DS, SCAL and MTC
